If you want to build with an eye toward the future, you need to think “green”. As environmental standards, energy efficiency, sustainability and other futuristic terms become the norm, future buildings will have to meet certain standards. And, although it’s not inexpensive to build a greener building in the short term, the cost savings in energy alone can be phenomenal. Plus, if you’re building with an eye toward the future, building an environmentally-friendly structure is still going to be a lot more cost-effective than retrofitting in the future.
